Established in 2007,
DiamondVision Productions is a small production company, specializing in
comedy shorts. It is a tight group of core actors and a professional,
multitalented, hard working crew. Everybody at DiamondVision Productions
believes in putting their best foot forward even though somebodyf winds
up tripping over it.
Dena
Diamond is the chief idiot behind the lunacy also known as DiamondVision
Productions. While sighted, Dena worked as a Production Assistant on
“The Larry Sander’s Show.” There she read scripts, observed the
editor, and sneaked on to as many sound stages as possible to study the
different directors’ styles. She moved on to United Talent Agency for
a couple of years as the administrator but longed for the production
side. She became the office manager at River Siren Productions and the
assistant to the Executive Producer on “Cybill” for CBS. After only
one year, she had to leave due to her failing health. Over a three month
period, Dena lost her sight. She lost a lot but not her sense of humor
or her desire to work in the entertainment industry.
When
Dena lost her sight in 1996, you would think that her road to directing
would have come to a dead end but Dena’s not that bright. The road
took a detour.
Dena redirected her career and started writing. She wrote for
magazines and greeting card companies. She became a song writer and has
had many songs featured on CD’s and television shows. Even though she
has been finding success in the business she loves, it was not enough.
Dena slowly started
purchasing equipment in order to direct and produce her own material.
She pounds out the scripts, and records the music. Dena likens herself
to Carol Burnett but without the talent. “The only thing we have in
common is that we both know that you are only as good as the talent you
surround yourself with.” DiamondVision’s first comedy short is
“Blind Girl Blues.” It features Dena’s poor mans version of Harvey
Korman and Vicki Lawrence in Aldo Juliano and Ariane Vashti. The crew
also shares her warped vision. Mike
Langford is Dena’s eyes and is able to capture just the right shot as
the camera is an extension of his body. The stories take shape and
breathe life with Jack Patterson’s surgical precision editing cuts.
DiamondVision
Productions makes digipix’s to tantalize all the senses especially
your sense of humor. Everybody is fair game as DVP is a diverse group
both in front of and behind the camera. Our motto says it all, “You do
not have to be able to see to have DiamondVision.”
